In Ann Thorpe's article, SES-Social Equity and Sustainability, she describes this equity as containing three important factors: "economic, cultural, and environmental" and attributes the public sector as having a large role in achieving this balance. Design that Matters' focus on the majority of the world, and also the poorest, positions itself as a leader of design for social sustainability.
