DtM on NPR's Morning Edition
Today on NPR's Morning Edition, you'll hear an interview we gave about Design that Matters and the West Africa field study. Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what it's like to visit a recording studio. First, here's Tim in the studio with journalist Suzanne Bates:

There was a "cough" button on my microphone console, but I had to supply all of the other sound effects. Here's Neil reviewing the script with Morning Edition editor Margaret Evans.

Kinkajou Video Available On-Line
"Design that Matters is a nonprofit organization that works with students, educators, and corporate partners to help students develop valuable skills while creating real-world products that address the needs of underserved communities around the world."
"One such product development effort is the Kinkajou, a small battery-operated microfilm projector designed to help people in rural areas of West Africa overcome widespread illiteracy. The innovative solution offers a practical means for adults to learn during evening hours without the prohibitive expense of printed materials. The project earned a group of MIT students the ANSYS College Design Engineering Award for 2003." -- from the article "Linking engineering and business students to community need" in the March 2004 SolidWorks Express
You can see the SolidWorks-produced video, which includes footage from last summer's field study in West Africa, here (10 MB Windows Media File).
